Help for Carers
AbSec is dedicated to standing by our deadly carers.
AbSec Carer Support service
We know being a carer isn’t easy, but you don’t have to do it alone. AbSec is dedicated to standing by our deadly carers. Our Aboriginal Carer Support Service aims to improve the information, support, and training opportunities for carers of Aboriginal children and young people in New South Wales.
Free phone advice
Our free telephone advice and advocacy service is available to all carers of Aboriginal children. We offer support with foster care recruitment activities, including events and promotions, to ensure carers have access to the resources and guidance they need.
Working together
We value both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal foster and kinship carers who care for Aboriginal children and young people. We work cooperatively with Aboriginal out-of-home care agencies, the Department of Communities and Justice, and other relevant government and non-government agencies to improve communication, support, and training for carers.
Client services
We aim to enhance the services we provide by identifying the diverse needs and expectations of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal foster and kinship carers. Our goal is to ensure that the information we provide is comprehensive, accurate, impartial, accessible, and up-to-date.
Outcomes
Support is provided to foster and kinship carers when and where needed, enabling them to continue caring for Aboriginal children and young people in out-of-home care. We also ensure that foster and kinship carers are better trained and skilled to provide quality care.

Carer Support Groups
